“What is Your Self-worth? Is a useful guide that encourages women to break free from cultural pressure and enjoy their life. The book focuses on all the important issues that affect a womans life, and offers step by step guidance and solutions. It is in the form of a practical workbook that includes both theory and practice. The questionnaire included in each chapter facilitates the process of learning, while the style is simple enough to follow. Written in a highly professional way, it is enhanced with quotes from women around the globe.
The foreword of this book is exceptionally interesting. I enjoyed reading Jehan Sadat’s and Shimon Peres’s statements about women. Reading this book a woman can t help considering her own validation issues and may discover that she is not as free as she had thought. Pressure comes not only from the family but from cultural taboos and religions that place a lot of restrictions to a womans life. It is oppressive to think that in our fast changing world many women all over the world still live in the past suffering degradation in every aspect of their life. This book offers advice on how a woman can gain self-esteem despite societal restrictions. It teaches womens rights and it is a precious guidebook for every woman on earth. Dear Cheryl,
I read your book with pleasure. In this book you are tackling one of the most important concepts of self-worth that has utmost relevance to psychotherapy. Lack of self-worth is the cornerstone of personality and anxiety. Many people need years of therapy to change. However, education and using simple but powerful concepts could greatly assist those changes in a short run and persist in the future process. I believe that is where your book is truly invaluable. Women are diagnosed twice as often with anxiety disorders. Poor self-worth concept leading to inability to cope could be a part of this.
According to cognitive-behavior model, anxiety consists of three steps: feeling, cognitive appraisal and behavior. Feeling is most difficult to change. However, we are able to change our appraisal of the self and situation by reframing. We can also understand how our poor coping behaviors get us into trouble and change them for the better ones.
Your book is an essential manual on how to do so. It is educationally comprehensive and teaches women how to reframe the situation in a more positive and self-affirming way. In that respect I believe it is invaluable not only for women but also for their male partners, giving them a perspective on the women’s thinking and behaviors.
The book is masterfully using contemporary strategies that are used in a behavioral approach but in a different common sense way that could better resonate with many people. From journaling to self-affirmations, to setting goals and achieving them, the book shows the roadmap for the change and invites women to take control over their lives. It calls for love of life and for a comprehensive enjoyment of many aspects of it.
The book also has multiple personal examples and thought-sharing from other women that increases its credibility and impact. I believe that this book is going to validate many women, inspire them to improve their self-worth and help them to achieve a better future.
Congratulations on this achievement!
Sincerely,
Alexander Bystritsky
